HAVE A GO BAG/EMERGENCY KIT FOR EACH ANIMAL IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD

Make sure the kit includes:

• Water, food and medicine for at least one week.
• Bowls (non-spill preferably), can opener (for canned food) and plastic lid to cover unused portion.
• Good, sturdy leash.
• Pet carrier.
• Plastic bags (for waste)/ litter and litter box.
• Card/list with names and phones numbers of your emergency contact, veterinarian, animal shelters and emergency veterinary hospital.
• Copy of your pet's medial history/records and up to date vaccination record.
• Any other items your pet needs on a daily basis for survival and comfort.

OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

• Make sure your pet wears a collar with current ID tags at all times.  You may even want to have your pet micro-chipped the next time you make a visit to the vet.
• Make sure your pet is crate trained.
• Have a list of neighbors or friends who can help with your animals in case of an emergency.
